Post subject:  Need help with Cv-21 again.....

Hi. I need some help.

Today, i try to transfer files from computer to cash register by cv-21 and for some reasons, i tick the Transfer All Editable Files". When i realized that, i pressed stop the file transfer then this was what happen to the cash register. I try to scan the items but cash register kept showing Please Enter PLU and Department. This was occur to almost of the items in the business.

I try to send the files by transfer the pending files that i re-enter the items information into the cv-21.
For example, if i send 9 items data into cash register and it can be scan on the cash register. However,if i try to send 2nd time, the 9 items that i sent on 1st time will be erase and items can not be scan on the register.

Does it mean i need to run Transfer All Editable Files completely in order to make cash register working again?

In this case, can i send all of my data to cash register so the items can be scan again? How can i do this?

Thank you.

If the register asks for a department, it means the scanning PLU is not in its memory. Make sure you have enough Scanning PLUs allocated in memory (normally file 16) before you send them from the software. Since you chose all editable files, you may have overwritten many files in the register. Check that you have all of your departments still in the cash register also.

Check the number of records allocated to file 16 in the cash register. Check that you still have all of your department names in the cash register. If those are correct, try sending your scanning PLUs to the register.

If you don't want to check the memory, it would be best to create a new store in CV and upload the current programming from the cash register. Now you can compare the files from each store in CV to see what differences you have created.

Finally, i called someone to check for me.
I know what File16 mean now.. It refer to Scanning PLU
Tech said something is overwritten the files so it caused the problem.
So he deleted the cash register data ( file16) then resend again from cv21.
How easy is that..... It cost me $220.. @@

Thx for helping me, C-Tech..

One more question. Do you know how to create a department name on cash register? i try to setup the name but it fail. For example, my cv-21, i set up Department 20 as Drink, then i sent to register. However, it still shows PLU20 as department (cash register). I sent a file by ticking Department/Sub Department but no hope. What should i do?

Thank you.

I've never seen department name programming fail before. Perhaps you should change it on the cash register and then upload the department file to the register
